Senior Scientist — Operations
Tucson, Arizona
HTG is seeking a Senior Scientist for the Operations Group. The successful candidate will exhibit professionalism, scientific expertise, and have 5-10 years experience working in a regulated environment, including working within a quality system. Experience in the medical diagnostics industry is highly desirable. This individual will be required to interact with customers at an equivalent scientific/technical level.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead projects related to the design and implementation of custom assays for customers and for company-specific projects.
• Perform lab work as part of the assay development process and as part of assay characterization.
• Develop and maintain expertise in current and developing HTG technologies and use that expertise to provide technical support both internally and externally.
• Identify and implement product and process improvements, lead troubleshooting efforts, investigate complaints and nonconformances, and providing technical support to customers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of assay techniques (gene expression assays, array-based assays, ELISA assays, protein assays), including oligonucleotide probe design and use of BLAST
• Experience working with histological samples
• Ability to make detailed experimental observations, review and analyze data, and interpret and clearly communicate experimental results

HTG is seeking highly credible and passionate individuals with advanced degrees (preferred) in one of the life sciences for field positions. The Company is seeking candidates who currently live in the aforementioned major metropolitan regions and who have strong sales experience to develop strategic sales plans, achieve sales, and monitor the marketplace to respond to changes in the competitive market. Candidates must possess excellent organizational, presentation, and communications skills. Successful candidates will be analytical thinkers capable of persuading and building consensus in large organizations and operating remotely and independently.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Develop a territory and account-specific sales plans.
• Execute plan to meet sales quotas.
• Use and maintain CRM.
• Deliver technical/scientific seminars and presentations about HTG products and their capabilities.
• Demonstrate role and relevance of HTG’s product portfolio and provide consultation to customers regarding the portfolio.
• Demonstrate command of scientific knowledge to engage in collaborative sale.
• Develop and maintain strong customer connections at various levels an organization.
• Minimum 50% field travel.
Mandatory Qualifications:
• Advanced life science degree (Ph.D. or Master’s in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology preferred). Must be able to understand and explain molecular biology based technology and products.
• 5+ years commercial experience, preferably with core experience in life science or biotech companies. Strong preference for experience with research and laboratory products.
• Preferred candidates will have previously demonstrated success with complex sales and within multi-layered environments.
• Candidates must be a motivated self-starter with proactive prospecting skills, be highly adaptable and independent and have a strong desire to win business and establish long-term customer relationships.
